Biography

Harpist, Mrs. Martha E. Painter, performs harp repertoire throughout our region for many special events as a solo artist as well as ensemble/orchestra work. Martha has studied harp performance with Jacquelyn Bartlett at Appalachian State University, as well as piano performance and pedagogy under the direction of Dr. Lyn Rice-See at East Tennessee State University.

Martha has performed the harp for many weddings, receptions, anniversary celebrations, corporate dinners, church services, and other such events. She has performed with Highland Youth Ensemble, Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, ETSU Orchestra, and Miss Kingsport Scholarship Pageant.

She is the owner of studio 101 in Kingsport where she provides music education to piano and harp students as well as Musikgarten students. Martha has worked with children and music together for more than twenty years in various settings including children's choir/choral work, group music classes and private music lessons. She received AMTA "Music Teacher of the Year" award in 2006.
